Description

The Smart Specialisation Platform on Energy (S3PEnergy) participated in the European Week of Regions and Cities on the 13th and 14th of October 2016 in Brussels.

Since its launching in May 2015, the Smart Specialisation Platform on Energy (S3PEnergy) has supported interregional cooperation among its members (please register to the S3PEnergy here!) around common Smart Specialisation Strategies (S3) priorities on energy. Many regions confirmed their interest to establish S3 Energy partnerships for interregional cooperation. So far, four energy priorities have been identified, i.e. Bioenergy, Energy Efficiency in Buildings, Marine Renewable Energy and Smart Grids. Accordingly, the S3PEnergy is currently facilitating the creation of four thematic S3 partnerships to foster the implementation of their S3. Support on additional energy areas could be provided by the S3PEnergy upon joint request from EU regions.

Objective: to facilitate inter-regional cooperation among EU regions having similar Smart Specialisation energy-related priorities. The S3PEnergy facilitates the exchange with other regions manifesting similar interests. Regions among themselves have started the reflections about the operational work of their selected partnership/s (e.g. leadership and co-leadership, governance system, roadmaps, rules, etc).

To whom is addressed this invitation?

Any entity representing regional (or national) public administration interested in contributing to the effective implementation of their S3 energy related priorities. These entities can include, among others, regional development, innovation and/or energy agencies.
Research centres, universities, private actors, or any other type of institutions (e.g. associations) are also welcome to participate if endorsed by their corresponding regional administration.
One region may participate in one or several S3 Energy Partnerships.
