Description
Background
On the eve of the new programming period of the Cohesion Policy for 2021-2027, the next two years provide an opportunity for policy makers and stakeholders to assess the achievements and the emerging challenges of the development and implementation of the Smart Specialisation Strategies (RIS3). As a result of the experience acquired and the mid-term evaluations, some Member States and regions have started to revise their RIS3 , with the aim of introducing the necessary changes to strengthen collaboration between the actors, to identify new areas of innovation. In addition, the proposal of the new European Cohesion Regulations 2021-2017 has introduced new elements in the Smart Specialisation Strategy concept that require common understanding.
This workshop on the future of RIS3 is organised by the JRC together with the Regional Goverment of Andalusia. This workshop is part of the RIS3 Working Group for Spanish Regional Development Agencies’ Assotiation, a group led by the Agency for Innovation and Development of Andalusia (IDEA), with the support of the Smart Specialisation Platform (S3P) and the collaboration of the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (through the ‘R&D&I Network’ - Red I+D+I). In the RIS3 Working Group of the ADR Forum, the Spanish agencies have been working together with the JRC during the RIS3 design and implementation. This PXL workshop also intends to reinforce the collaboration between the JRC and ADR Forum during the RIS3 revision.
