Name Description
Innovative Medicine Activities will include "In vitro/ In vivo" evaluation in projecting general medicines; Development of early diagnosis systems, personalized treatment, monitoring and prognosis; Study of the most widespread causes of mortality and morbidity in the region; Monitoring the spreading of highly pathogenic microorganisms with potential for mass spreading; Developing inovative software and technologies in the medical field; Impact assessment of the environment and occupations on population health; Research and production of equipment, prostheses and software for people with disabilities.
Tourism and Cultural Identity Includes developing applications and IT systems specific to tourism; development of computer applications related to the cultural heritage of the region; promoting ecotourism as a measure to preserve and protect nature; and creative planning in urban development plans.
Industrial Engineering and Transportation Including projection and development of bio-vehicle concept; developing new generation of railway vehicles by ecological and energy efficient technologies; new systems and techniques used in construction field in order to reduce costs; developing studies and research in criogenic processes and specific materials; developing new and competitive materials for fuels components; developing research in petri-chemistry field; projection and development of systems for hydrogen production from renewable resources: biomass, hydrocarbs, solar, etc.; experimental research for thermal transfer and analysis of cryogenic cycles specific to helium liquefaction installations; biotechnological valorization of deposits and wastes with reduced content of useful compunds (metals, oil); apps, technologies and methods for low energy consumption industrial production; high-tech calculation and computational models; parallel computing algorithms for industrial engineering and design; new specialized software for mechatronics; projection and development of vehicles for the construction field; specialized software for chemical and metalurgical industry; projection and development of innovative vehicles and railway vehicles with low fuel consumption and reduced environmental impact; investment for industrial appications with low energy consumption; projection of new and inovative construction systems using recyclable and reusable materials; de-pollution of industrial residual water containing organic compounds chlorinated by advanced oxidation on hydrophilic and hydrophobic catalysts; technologies and vehicles projections for ecological transportation; developing micro and nano-electric inovative components; developing new materials and technologies for nanostructures and integrated circuits at nano scale; developing new concepts and nanoelectric devices; developing converging technologies: micro-nano-bio; experiencing and developing new fotonic materials; projecting and developing innovative micro and nano components for the railway rolling stock; research for improving the resistance of the materials used in construction.
Biotechnologies for Health, Transport, Energy and Agri-Food Applications Developing technologies with sustainable impact, increasing the quality, availability and reliability of equipment, machinery and installations; developing technologies, equipment and innovative systems for the production of food and non-food bio-resources; developing new generations of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient vehicles and technologies; substitution of critical materials and increasing the lifetime of materials, equipment, machinery and installations; developing alternative power generation systems; enhance energy efficiency and develop more sustainable consumption patterns; fundamental and applicative innovative medicine; innovative software and technologies development for the medicine field; impact assessment of the environment and occupations on population health; production of equipment and protheses needed for people with disabilities.
ICT for Transport, Energy, Metallurgic and Agriculture Applications Developing and implementing specialized applications and software for railway vehicles; design and development of vehicles used in construction; specialized software projection for sustainable energy production and supply; developing and implementing software programs applicable to the chemical and metallurgical industry; implementing specialized software for agriculture and food sector.
Agriculture and Food Industry Activities include safe, accessible and nutritional optimised food products; product practices, processes and inovative technologies in cereal crops, vegetable growing, horticulture, forestry; seed production for crops addapted to weather challenges - drought/floods; agro-food industrial biotechnologies development; bio-fertilizers; bio-catalysts for industrial applications; efficient/ integrated systems for irrigation to prevent the desertification in the south west part of the country; research for the development of pharmacological products based on natural crops and plants used in drug therapy; developing innovative products, practices, processes and technologies in the horticultural sector; testing of hybrid varieties in experimental lots for facilitating the subsequent transfer to mass cultivation; stimulation and development of agricultural research; improving the energy efficiency of technology used in agricultural holdings; and supporting the sustainable development of crop production adapted to climate change.
Sustainable Energy and Environment Activities in this priority include research and development of biofuels with high energy value; production of bioenergy - biogas, biomass, biofuels; auxiliar energy production from organic waste from agriculture, forestry, zootechnics, food industry, etc; specialised software projection for sustainable energy production and supply; system and models development for microbiologic degradation of pollutants; creation of innovative biotechnological systems for sustainable energy; optimal use of conventional and unconventional water resources; and disasters risc evaluation and reduction.
