Name Description
Mechanical Engineering & Mechatronics Manufacturing is the most important industry in the region. Mechanical engineering and mechatronics (including metalworking) as an important part of the industry is one of the most important sectors of the South Bohemian Region. Mechanical engineering in the South Bohemia Region is inextricably linked to the motor vehicle and metal construction industries, and is also closely related to the electrical engineering sector.
Electronics, Electrical Engineering & IT The electronics and electrical engineering sector is another important industry in the South Bohemia region, which dates back to the period before the Second World War. This sector is linked to the automotive and engineering sectors and benefits from the region's neighbourhood with Austria and Germany. There are a number of other important enterprises in the electronics and electrical engineering sector in South Bohemia.
Sustainable transport Automotive or automotive industry is a regional domain of specialization, which is closely related to the regional domains of specialization Electronics and Electrical Engineering and IT as well as Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics. These sectors are the precursor of the automotive sector. A number of firms in the county are classified under other sectors, but basically produce mainly for the automotive industry.
Green Technologies, Biotechnology, Bioeconomy, Sustainable Agriculture This domain reflects several important regional aspects, in particular the focus, scale and number of staff of the corresponding regional public R&D base and the importance of agriculture and food production (CZ NACE 10 - 4th most important in the region), the excellent R&D results achieved in this area, etc.
Sustainable Energy The area of energy is crucial for further economic growth of the region and affects all its components, thus it is very closely related to the future development of the innovation ecosystem of the South Bohemian Region. Key barriers to the development of energy self-sufficiency include, for example, existing legislation, the definition of competences of the state, the region and key actors, low awareness of energy management tools etc.
