DIH analysis

Under this section you can find an analysis of DIHs on a EU27 and national level based on the data stored in the Catalogue of DIH hosted under the JRC S3P. It is highlighted that data as of 4th of June 2021 were used as the baseline for this analysis.

DIHs national analysis

The Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) Catalogue (yellow pages) was set up back in 2018 to provide a comprehensive geographical mapping of DIHs in the EU across varying competences, structures and service offerings. Today, it is a repository of more than 650 DIHs, over 400 of which are fully operational, including information on the technology and application specialisation, geographical coverage, markets addressed and general digitisation support available. Searching is available either with free text or filter for technical competences, services provided, TRL focus or market sectors addressed. By clicking on the Digtial Innovation Hubs (DIH) in a map or a search result list, more detailed information about each DIH is provided. Recently a list with the Candidate European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) proposed by the Member States has been added as a separate Catalogue.

The information provided in the DIH profiles is based on self-declarations and before a DIH can appear in the Catalogue as a fully operational DIH the profile is verified (based on the provided information) for compliance with the following criteria:

  1. Be part of a regional, national or European policy initiative to digitise industry;
  2. Be a non-profit organisation;
  3. Have a physical presence in the region and present an updated website explaining the DIHs’ activities and services provided for the digital transformation of SMEs/Midcaps;
  4. Have at least 3 verifiable examples of how the DIH has helped a company with its digital transformation.

The analysis in EU27 and national level is based on the data stored in the Catalogue as of 04/06/2021. The analysis is presented in separate fiches and highlights the following areas of activity of the hubs:

•    Customers types
•    Selected digital technology focus
•    Funding sources
•    Market sectors
•    Type of services offered to SMEs
•    TRL focus of DIHs
