Description

The European Digital Innovation Hub for smart Health: Precision Medicine and Innovative Ehealth Services (smartHEALT EDIH) aims to promote innovation and social value in the fields of health and social care as a contribution to the global effort "Health for all", as well as the development and exploitation of scientific, technological and business excellence in the field of digital health, with value-added products and services for the benefit of citizens around the world.

smartHEALTH is the 1st digital innovation hub in Greece in the field of digital health. It consists of 4 research centres, leaders in the field in Greece and the EU, 3 universities, a large company and a regional industrial association with infrastructure, products and services of high added value, highly specialized human resources and recognized research activity of world prestige in the field. The research centres and universities possess scientific and technological excellence in the pillars of high-performance computing, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, as well as their applications in the domain of health.

It will utilize existing infrastructure and scientific knowledge to contribute to the digital transformation of the public and private sectors focusing on technologies such as HPC, AI and Cybersecurity and support the utilization of innovative products and services of high added value and competitiveness to create new products, services and applications to promote innovation, competitiveness and extroversion.

smartHEALTH EDIH will offer expertise and services within broad categories such as those of translational bioinformatics for precision medicine, drug discovery, smart hospitals, clinical trials, imaging informatics, hybrid molecular imaging, computational neuroscience, biosensors, eHealth interoperability, care coordination, social care, welfare, civil protection, and emergency management.

smartHEALTH EDIH  will provide a comprehensive approach to digital health technology to support the realization of its full potential to provide new options for facilitating prevention, early diagnosis of life-threatening diseases, and management of chronic conditions beyond traditional settings towards the vision of citizen empowerment to make better-informed decisions about their own health.

Digital health technologies are one of the pioneering initiatives to create an innovative Europe in a dynamic knowledge - based economy. The digital health market has gradually created a commercial IT health ecosystem with rapid growth worldwide. Under the context of a dynamic market relying on advanced technologies and innovative business activities, smartHEALTH EDIH will provide a significant impetus to the digital transformation of the health sector, helping the public sector and companies to develop innovative products using advanced knowledge and state-of-the-art technologies. Synergies will facilitate the development of added-value products and services aimed at the global market.
