Conference “Implementation of Smart Specialisation in Montenegro”

  • 29 Sep 2022
  • Rectorate of the University of Montenegro, Cetinjski put 2, 81000 Podgorica, Montenegro

In 2019, Montenegro became the first country from the EU enlargement and neighbourhood region to adopt the Smart Specialisation strategy and receive positive assessment by the European Commission. Subsequently, the country launched the implementation phase, receiving further support by the European Commission in developing operational programmes for implementation of Smart Specialisation in priority areas. Montenegro established a sound structure for the implementation of Smart Specialisation and produced remarkable results for the first two years of strategy implementation.

This event will highlight the achievements and challenges that Montenegro faced throughout the Smart Specialisation process, with the particular focus on the results from the implementation phase and the experiences from setting up the governance system for facilitating the implementation. It will also serve as the platform for discussion of some of the key stakeholders on the efficiency of the Smart Specialisation process and its results.
