Description
The 3rd Steering Committee meeting of the Smart Specialisation Platform for Industrial Modernisation happened in Rovaniemi, Finland on 12th April 2018. Together with the European Commission and the Lapland region, Interreg Europe took the opportunity to organise a 1-day event on 11th April to discuss possible synergies and complementarities between Interreg Europe projects and the strategic partnerships for industrial modernisation.
Interreg Europe identified 19 projects (13 from the 1st Call and 6 from the 2nd Call) with regions involved in the Smart Specialisation Platform for Industrial Modernisation. There are a lot of synergies possible between Interreg Europe and the strategic partnerships. It is therefore important for the regions involved that the complementarities and synergies between both initiatives are more clearly communicated.
The objective of this joint meeting was to explore for the first time possible synergies between Interreg Europe projects with the interregional partnerships working under the S3 Platform for Industrial Modernisation. The event allowed all participants become aware of the work undertaken on both sides, exchange views and mutually benefit from results obtained in different topics such as on how better implementing smart specialisation strategies, reinforcing interregional and cluster cooperation, and promoting regional and interregional investments. This will open new ways for cooperation between regions and their stakeholders that could further pursued in different thematic areas and contexts.
