Priority Name Description
Advanced Engineering Special nanofiber machines, technological lines for various processes in the automotive, food industry, glass, textile (for example 3D textiles). The field of mechanical engineering focuses mainly on machine tools and single-purpose machines, power equipment, technology of processing polymers and composites for production of light parts and structures. Diagnostic medical devices or intelligent building technologies are also specialties. The main goal of local engineering is to increase accuracy, production performance, reliability and minimize negative environmental impacts. Research and development in the region specializes, for example, in the field of synthesized streams, thermoacoustics, heat and mass transfer and material properties of substances.
Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology Nanofibers, nanomembranes, needle-free electrostatic spinning by alternating current for the production of yarn provided with nanofibres, production of coaxial or porous nanofibres, technology of durable antibacterial layers, technology of preparation of nanosurfaces or production of nanocomposites; nanomaterials for biomedical applications or special textile applications
Advanced Separation and Remediation Technologies Unique knowledge in the region includes the development and manufacture of ion-selective membranes, membrane devices and the design of membrane or remediation composites with controlled reactivity for use in specific processes or applications. Research on materials (polymers, membranes, nanofibrous materials) and technologies (constant improvement of membrane processes) remains a key cross-sectoral research subject. Research specializes, for example, in reducing the energy intensity of separation processes, developing hybrid desalination systems or nanotechnology in the remediation of old environmental burdens.
Advanced Textile Structure Based Materials and Technologies for New Multidisciplinary Applications New materials in the field of clothing and technical textiles, composite structures containing inorganic fibers, nanoparticles and textile reinforcement, construction and evaluation of intelligent textiles; Metrology and new methods of quality evaluation. Modeling of properties of fiber and textile structures using computer-aided design; New finishing methods - brings new utility properties to textile materials and extends the applicability of textile structures in new fields; Advanced textile technologies - modification and development of technologies for processing new materials, new energy sources and new transport media in textiles, interdisciplinary use of textiles, use of optical fibers and shape memory materials for technical products, development in the field of textile sensors and sensors suitable for use in textiles. Ecological aspects of new technologies; Application of nanotechnologies - research, development and application of nanotechnologies in textiles, production and use of nanofibres and nanofiber structures, application of nanoparticles for special effects.
Progressive Metal and Composite Materials and Technologies of Their Processing Composite and nanocomposite materials, glass ceramic materials or adhesive systems for joining hybrid structures; innovative methods of processing plastics and composites, new methods of forming metal materials, preparation and handling of molds or welding technology. creation of material models, simulation of technological processes or determination of mechanical properties. research and development of elastomers, mechanical properties of 3D printing products.
Electronics and Electrical Engineering Technology of Industry 4.0 (machine vision, augmented and virtual reality, contactless and biometric identification systems, etc.) In the field of electronics and electrical engineering, research is being carried out in the Liberec Region in the area of software information technology supporting human-machine communication, IT or artificial intelligence. Voice technologies focusing on the development of dictation, transcription and dialogue programs and the creation of special tools to assist the disabled are being developed. Software tools for speech processing, speech recognition, visual data, image processing, biological data analysis, etc. are being developed.
Optics, Ornamental and Utility Glass Glass production focuses not only on decorative glass and jewelery, but also complex optical systems (diagnostic and measuring instruments, guidance systems, etc.) The region has a unique knowledge of grinding and polishing technology, which gave rise to the production of unique crystal optics for example, for space telescopes. Research and development is currently focused on glass-ceramic materials, detection and sensory optical systems, laser technologies, LED applications, thin film deposition, etc. The specialty of the region is the production and processing of single crystals
