New publication! The Science for Policy Report "Smart Specialisation in the world, an EU policy approach helping to discover innovation globally" is out13 Jun 2019
Following the first global workshop on Smart Specialisation held in Seville (Spain) in September 2018, the Smart Specialisation Platform published a Science for Policy Report on "Smart Specialisation in the world, an EU policy approach helping to discover innovation globally".
The purpose of this meeting was to exchange on Smart Specialisation, building on European and international experiences, and to envisage to what extent it could feed into Peru's research and innovation policies.
The EU's approach to regional economic development through Smart Specialisation is gaining a world-wide following. The JRC organises the first global meeting of Smart Specialisation experts from five continents to discuss this participatory approach to economic transformation.

This seminar, carried out together with JRC S3P Visiting Scientist Jürgen Haberleithner, aimed at looking closely at the nature and activities of the European science and innovation diasporas in North America and how they can be better connected to and foster Smart Specialisation (S3) processes in Europe.
The latest region to register is Latrobe Valley (Australia).
Mexico governmental visit to DG JRC Seville to explore avenues for further cooperation on Smart Specialisation07 May 2018
On 27 April, Gloria Marmolejo Jaramillo, Director General of the State Council of Science and Technology of Colima, Mexico (Consejo Estatal de Ciencia y Tecnología del Estado de Colima, CECYTCOL) and Technical Secretariat of the Commission of Science and Technology of the National Conference of Governors of Mexico (CONAGO), and Marisol Chavira Maravilla, Coordinator of the Science Communication Programme of Colima's government, visited DG JRC Seville for a first meeting about potential cooperation possibilities, with special focus on Smart Specialisation.

The Energy Agency of Podravje (Slovenia) as representative of the smart specialisation partnership on bioenergy was invited to the workshop Mexico-Guatemala, innovation and territorial cohesion.
