UN STI Forum 2021: High-Level Side Event on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for SDGs Roadmaps (May, 2021)

The session addressed to the countries and organizations interested in applying Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) took place on Monday, 3 May at the margins of UN STI Forum. It aimed at raising awareness of the results achieved as part of the Global Pilot Programme on STI for the SDGs Roadmaps, and at promoting the discussion on the next steps to reach out more countries and stakeholders.

Building on stakeholder consultations and extensive research following the POINT (Projecting Opportunities for INdustrial Transitions) methodology of the JRC, the review explores some of the policy pathways that Greece might take as it moves from a dependence on fossil fuels to an economy that makes greater use of renewable sources of energy and exploits many of the opportunities that are arising in the production and use of batteries in the realms of transport and mobility, agriculture, shipping and defence.
