Thematic S3 Platform for Industrial Modernisation

Steering Committee Meeting II/2018

Given the work performed in the previous years in the Thematic Smart Specialisation Platform for Industrial modernisation, the partnerships qualified under the platform provide access to valuable knowledge and professional networks. As thematic S3 partnerships are linked to shared regional research and innovation smart specialisation priority areas, they work together with the intention of translating a specific S3 area into concrete investment projects through connecting their regional innovation eco-systems. The interregional collaboration of these partnerships contribute to a strengthened knowledge base and innovation system, which can lead to new paths of development and improved participation of regions' position in global value chains.

The Steering Committee meeting of the S3P – Industry was taking place in Bilbao, the 27th of November 2018 co-organised with the Basque Country offered the fourth occasion to further build the community of the S3P - Industry.

The S3P – Industry grew and Bilbao provided place for discussion for 18 partnerships and various European Commission directorates on topics reflecting the needs of partnerships expressed in their progress report I/2018. Number of topics were offered based on partnership needs.

The Steering Committee meeting was followed by a joint event between the thematic platforms on Agri-food, Energy and Industry providing opportunity to discover synergies across thematic platform's partnerships.
