Countries and regions in the EU, in Southeastern Europe and in the Danube macro-region are at very different stages of development and exhibit high variation in their regional innovations systems. In addition, smart specialisation is a legal requirement only for EU member states. Nonetheless, there are important lessons to be learnt from other regions concerning strategic, evidence-based and participatory innovation policies regardless of legal provisions and varying socio-economic development.
This meeting was co-organised by the Conference for Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) and the Smart Specialisation Platform. The Working Group brings together policy makers, academia and experts from the different countries that form part of the Atlantic Arc Sea Basin (AA) Strategy, to discuss how synergies can be developed between the AA strategy and the different national / regional RIS3 strategies.
This was a conference on achievements and implications of the StarDust and BSR Stars collaborations in the Baltic Sea Region and a matchmaking workshop between regions, countries and their RIS3.
