Conference "Supporting Smart Specialisation Strategies and Technology Transfer in South-East Europe"17/06/2019 17/06/2019
In connection to the "Innovative Enterprise Week" in Bucharest to be held on 19-21 June 2019, on 18th June 2019, the European Commission's Joint Research Centre together with the Romanian Ministry of Research and Innovation in the frame of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU will organise a "Conference on Smart Specialisation Strategies and Technology Transfer in South-East Europe" in Bucharest (Romania).
Serbia has successfully launched the comprehensive stakeholder dialogue within its smart specialisation efforts at the EDP Kick-off event organised on March 29 by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia.
To promote Smart Specialisation as an important tool also for transnational cooperation in the Western Balkans is the purpose of this workshop.
This event will focus on awareness raising on smart specialisation process which has started in Albania under JRC guidance. Organized by the Albanian S3 team with the support from the JRC Territorial Development Unit, the event will bring together major stakeholders of the Albanian innovation community.
The purpose of the Workshop held as a side event to the 3rd Annual Forum of the EUSAIR was to stimulate the debate on how to promote Research and Innovation cooperation in the Adriatic-Ionian Macro-Region (EUSAIR). Starting from an introduction on the European strategic framework, the event looked into some existing initiatives and tools to support R&I investments at macro-regional level, focusing on the indicative actions defined in the EUSAIR Action Plan and on possible synergies between ESIF and direct thematic funds (e.g. H2020, COSME, etc.).
The JRC is organising from 24 to 26 January 2018 in Ispra (IT) the event "Macro-Regional Innovation Week" with a focus on Science and Technology (S&T) Knowledge for Policy Support and Collaboration within the EU Macro-Regions linked and the Western Balkans and with a special emphasis on the Smart Specialisation and S&T Support to Policies (agriculture, environment, energy and transport, and biotechnologies).

Workshop on Investment Vehicles and Financial Instruments supporting Technology Transfer and Innovation01/03/2017 02/03/2017
The JRC organised a workshop that focused on financial instruments as support to innovation and tech transfer projects in the Western Balkans countries and, in general, in the Danube region. The event took place in Belgrade (Serbia). The objectives of the workshop were to identify existing financial instruments that support innovation and technology transfer activities in the region, explore where the evident gaps exist and explore ways to address currently unmet demand using synergistic solutions. The workshop also aimed to strengthen and cement an emerging community of practice on these issues that should help to maximise the impact of innovation on regional development.
In the framework of the Danube-INCO.net project, the S3 Platform and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova organised the first workshop on smart specialisation (S3) strategy design targeted on the EU enlargement and neighbourhood countries.
