Supporting the adaptation of Smart Specialisation Strategies to the needs of industrial transitions

Industrial Transition

JRC work on industrial transitions supports the adaptation of Smart Specialisation Strategies to the needs of industrial transitions. A particular of focus of this work are the twin green and digital transitions foreseen by the European Green Deal.

Industrial Transition

The Working Group on Understanding and Managing Industrial Transitions

This Working Group was launched by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) in 2019 within the frame of the project ‘Targeted Support to RIS3 in Lagging Regions’, to support regional (and where appropriate national) authorities facing major industrial transitions by charting actionable paths towards employment-intensive economic growth. More specifically, the Working Group aims to inform the development of appropriate "Actions to Manage Industrial Transitions", as stipulated in fulfilment criterion No.6 of the enabling condition of good governance foreseen in the next multi-annual financing period of the EU Structural Funds (without prejudice to the final decision of the European Commission).
