ARSControl is part of INTERMECH, applied research center on advanced mechanics and engine technologies of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. It is very well connected with the Italian service and industrial world, in particular with the Emilia-Romagna’s one. It collects the needs of the companies in order to develop robotic systems and automation solutions that can improve the production and increase the competitive advantage.

 

ARSControl has more than 15 years of experience, a lab equipped with advanced robotic technology and a very experienced team on transferring the latest research into industrial practice. ARScontrol can offer several services related to robotics and automation as:

The ARSCONTROL DIH is part of the technology tranfer effort of the INTERMECH-MO.RE. The center is part of the Emilia-Romagna RIS3 Strategy that focuses on 2 priorities:

2 vertical:

The center is part of a national cluster of excellence centers whose aim is to transfer the technology eveloped in research center to the industrial world. In particulare, INTERMECH-MO.RE.  focuses on advanced mechanics and mechatronics and the ARSCONTROL DIH will transfer the research results on robotics and automation to the regional, national and international markets. In particular, the DIH will focus on:

  1. Industrial Robotics and its integration in the production line.
  2. Virtual and Augmented Reality in service and manufacturing scenarios
  3. Collaborative Robotics
  4. Predictive maintenance for robotic systems and automatic machines
  5. Intuitive and inclusive interfaces for automatic machines and production lines

Design, installation and validation of a collaborative robotic system for decreasing injuries due to a dangerous part of an assembly process.

 

• What service(s) provided (different from example? 
 

This service is offered to companies (usually in the manufacturing sector) to analyze the potential benefits that can be achieved by a collaborative robotic solution in a particular (part of a) process. The company is also helped to design, install and validated the collaborative robotic solution.

 

• The relation with digitization? 
 

Collaborative robotics means digitization since it allows to optimize and trace the production process. Furthermore, it helps to automatically prevent dangerous situations.

• Short description (what need was solved)?

 

Because of the presence of human guided forklifts in automatic warehouses, the current traffic control strategies are inefficient. An optimized and efficient traffic management system has been developed.

 

• What service(s) provided (different from example? 
 

We offer to companies, mostly in the logistic and in the service sectors, a service related to the installation and optimization of mobile robot(s). The company is also assisted in the setup of the environment where the robots have to move in and to ensure the safety of the system.

 

• The relation with digitization? 
 

Mobile robotics is digitization since it allows to monitor and to keep track of the transported goods and also to monitor the surrounding environment. Furthermore, they allow to strictly bind the transportation tasks to the company’s ERP.

 


Big data analysis for machine diagnosis

Short description (what need was solved)?

 

The management of a complex automatic machine is a hard problem, especially the monitoring for the identification of faults and the fast restoring of the machine. ARSControl developed for Clevertech a data acquisition and processing system that is able to support the operator in the identification of mechanical faults by analyzing data acquired by sensors, (e.g. electric power absorbed by electrical motors of the machine) and presenting the results in a human-machine interface.

 

• What service(s) provided (different from example? 
 

The service offered targets to the development of an ecosystem of components enabling the following functions:

  • Real time acquisition of a flow of data from various sources (e.g. control sensors, machine alarms, etc.)
  • Big data storage management in the company premises by using a modern Hadoop server.
  • Development of analytics modules (called analytics beans) using Python language for data processing.
  • Development of effective user interface

 

 

• The relation with digitization? 
 

The service is linked to the implementation of smart factory concepts in the company business. This is implemented in the digitization of the maintenance process enabled by the services offered.
