This Digital Innovation Hub (DIH), is a non-for-profit organisation, which helps industrial companies to master digitalisation and realise smart products, services and business models by using software technology to drive innovation in their business.

We do this by developing and delivering the competences, products, services and knowledge necessary for clever companies to win the digitalisation race.

Within our Software Competence Center, SME's can visit us - free of charge - to get advice on innovative software solutions and make them aware of the changing role of software, which becomes a very strategic one.

Aim DIH:

The HTSC wants to show how pioneering innovative software contributes to the more efficient, flexible and qualitatively better development  and production of hardware. The starting points for this are: shortening the time-to-market (twice as fast) and preventing the complex development projects of products and services in machine construction from becoming uncontrollable and unmanageable.

RIS3 "Smart_Specialisation_Strategy_for_the_South_Netherlands":

The strategy of the South Netherlands region is to further develop a number of new or emerging clusters and promote cross-overs between clusters. It will aim at areas where the combined forces of the business and knowledge community can result in achieving or maintaining technological or market leadership. This may be in a B2B market, B2C market or in very specific niche markets. The foundations on which we will be building are sturdy ones. And there is a great deal of growth potential in the High Tech Systems & Materials, Chemistry & Materials and Agriculture & Food, Life Sciences & Health, Biobased, Logistics and Maintenance clusters. Various cooperative ventures are working on the development and, just as important, the roll out of new technologies, products and related services. The areas with growth potential are those that deliver innovative solutions to societal challenges (including health care, mobility, food security and safety, sustainable energy and sustainability in general [circular economy, raw materials efficiency], …).

The High Tech software cluster (with Brainport Development as secretary), or one or more of it's member partners, participated or is participating in several Interreg projects, as EFFECTIVE, Digipro, Factory of the Future.

The High Tech Software cluster is part of the Dutch national Smart Industry, what is simular to Industrie4.0 in Germany. The Fieldlabs within Smart Industry are the equivalent of Digital Innovation Hubs in Europe, where it is important to disseminate knowledge, create ecosytems and new business around digitalisation.

The Software cluster is part of the innovation program High Tech Systems & Materials 2017-2020 of the provence of Brabant.

Service Examples

Bright Move

Client profile: SME in hightech industry in the Netherlands.

Client needs: Finance new ideas and support them with software knowledge.

Provided solution to meet the needs: Bright Move provides knowledge, skills and loans to support starting entrepreneurs and spin-offs in the realization of their business plans in the Southeast Netherlands region.

Additional information:

As High Tech Software Cluster we focus on opportunities for companies to create new business, like starting a joint venture (e.g. and creating a launching platform for start ups (like we presented Wandelbots - Dresden/Germany - to our company ecosystem, and got in contact with Yaskawa Robots) in our Competence Center.

Software Competence Center

Client profile: SME in hightech industry in the Netherlands.

Client needs:  Awareness creation, problem solving and software driven experiments

Provided solution to meet the needs: sharing and analyse day-to-day problems for manufacturing companies in a secure and pre-competitive enviroment.

Additional information:

When people visit the Software Competence Center, we start with a presentation on the changing role of software in the transformation of SME's towards Industry 4.0 (digitalisation of the manufacturing industry) and on the base of keywords we accompany them through a matching system. If people want, iti is possible for them to experiment with the demonstrators in place.

Software Centric Systems Conference

Client profile: SME in hightech industry in the Netherlands.

Client needs: Ecosystem building, scouting, brokerage and networking.

Provided solution to meet the needs: A conference for CxO's of manufacturing companies

Additional Remarks: Insight in the benefits and requirements of software driven innovation and business (and insight in the current knowledge and skills) gives support to develop these to the level required to achieve their ambitions and Industry4.0 goals of the companies.

As High Tech software cluster, we organize - during the year -networking events to see which questions SME's want to get answered. The Software Centric Systems Conference is our biggest event. Whe also have free consulting hours to make the first inventory of the problems and connect them with a matching systems to the right software companies. Starting with the High Tech software cluster is meant as part of the ecosystem building activities of Brainport Development and help manufacturing companies to make new connections, scout for new ideas and create Cyber Physical Systems that integrate complex hardware with software.

Future Skilled

Client profile: SME in hightech industry in the Netherlands.

Client needs: Education and skills development

Provided solution to meet the needs: The High Tech software cluster offers workshops on e.g. Cyber Security, AI, Model Based Software Engineering to professionals (life long learning) and students (vocational, university of applied science and technological universities).

We also use the Software Competence Center as a physical location for internships and experiments.
