Description

The DIH 'TPC-NL' is specialised in automated tape processing for TPC componenents and materials testing. TPC-NL enables enterprises to develop new materials with ground breaking properties (saving weight a.o.) by developing automated application of this new group of materials.

Focus areas are: Automation, Recycling, Insert Moulding. TPAC: Applied and industrial research for SME applications TPRC: Fundamental and precompetitive research.

 

De DIH 'TPC-NL' is gespecialiseerd in geautomatiseerde vervaardiging van TPC producten and materiaal testen. TPC-NL viedt aan odnernemingen de mogelijkheid om nieuwe materialen te ontwikkelen met grensverleggende eigenschappen (o.a. gewichtsbesparing) door ontwikkeling van geautomatiseerde toepassingen van deze materialengroep.

Geautomatiseerde verwerking van composiet tape voor TPC componenten en materiaaltesten. Onderzoekslijnen zijn automatisering, recycling en insert moulding. TPAC; Toegepast en industriële onderzoek naar nieuwe toepassingen TPRC: Fundamenteel, precompetitief onderzoek.

Industrial automation is the enabler for applying TPC. These materials will offer ground breaking weight reduction and stiffness improvement for mobile applications a.o.

TPAC is recognised as a Smart Industry Fiellab, and hence is part of the national SI programme. It is also supported by the regional authorities (province of Overijssel) and at a European level the TPAC has taken part in several EU programmes, like H2020 (Xosoft) and EFRO (Green factory).

This DIH is aligned with RIS3 strategies by:

Provided solution: Available equipment a.o. tape placement robots, industrial vertical injection moulding centre, horizontal injection moulding machine, press, specific testing equipment, etc.


TPRC Research

Client profile: Larger companies, research instititutes and SME's

Client needs: to develop more knowledge regarding overmoulding of fibre reinforced inserts

Provided solution: Up to TRL level 6 research into overmoulding of TPC inserts.

  1. Overmolding of thermoplastic composites with the design and manufacture of an advanced demonstrator part
  2. Experimental validation and modelling of the mechanisms underlying the overmolding process. Translated these to numerical models using a thermoforming software package (AniForm) combined with Autodesk Moldflow to predict interface strength and warpage caused by process-induced residual stresses.
