Description

Description

RIOHUB aims at developing a feasibility study for the creation of a hub around 4.0 Industry in La Rioja, to promote the adoption of ICT in traditional and key manufacturing sectors in the Region (Agro-food and foot-wear), by empowering the uptake of I4MS technologies, namely Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) and Internet of Things (IoT). To this end RIOHUB brings together 5 entities who represent the key actorsfor the Digitalisation and Modernisation of strategic manufacturing sectors in La Rioja Region. Additionally 26 key stakeholders (e.g. main public institutions, clusters and competence centres) have shown their strategic interest in the articulation of this Hub, for the promotion of I4MS technologies in La Rioja Manufacturing Sectors.

Link to national or regional initiatives for digitising industry

Regarding the technologies to be applied to improve the competitiveness of traditional sectors, ADER has recently launched the Programme of ICT Structures and Systems and 4.0 Industry, addressed to finance“…the development and implementation of industrial technologies with the aim of bringing smart products and services based on CPS technologies which integrate virtual with physical technologies or Internet of Things (IoT), into communication technologies or information treatment or other digital technologies, to the factories and its industrial processes into a reflexive, planned and integrative way” .

Taking into account this background, RIOHUB will focus its action plan in fostering the implementation of CPS technologies and Internet of Things (to be aligned with 4.0 Industry Regional Policy), in the manufacturing sectors where Rioja has traditionally been more active (to be aligned with Rioja RIS3), in order to become them more competitive.

The hub is also participating in the Innovation for Manufacturing SMEs (I4MS) intiative of the European Commission, through the H2020 project, BEinCPPS.

Access to Finance: Program Connect Challenges Rio-4.0

The program will be based on a detection of challenges or problems of up to 5 La Rioja tractor companies that have followed the Activa 4.0 program, developed jointly by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, EOI and the Government of La Rioja, and have a Digital Transformation Plan for Industry 4.0 that identifies and prioritizes transformation opportunities, develops opportunity cards and a digital transformation plan.
The program will select the necessary digital enablers in this transformation process through a call for Riojan companies providing solutions and new StartUps of the national panorama, which should set their headquarters in La Rioja.

Footwear customization technology services

A regional SME (Calzados Hergar) benefitted from the services of the Hub, being connected to an entity able to help in the implementation of a proof of concept for an improvement in the customization and comfort of their products (Footwear Technology Centre - CTCR), where they introduced innovative technologies into the footwear production process.
