4th steering committee meeting

Given the work performed in the previous years in the Thematic Smart Specialisation Platform for Industrial modernisation, the partnerships qualified under the platform provide access to valuable knowledge and professional networks. As thematic S3 partnerships are linked to shared regional research and innovation smart specialisation priority areas, they work together with the intention of translating a specific S3 area into concrete investment projects through connecting their regional innovation eco-systems. The interregional collaboration of these partnerships contribute to a strengthened knowledge base and innovation system, which can lead to new paths of development and improved participation of regions' position in global value chains.

The Steering Committee meeting of the S3P – Industry was taking place in Bilbao, the 27th of November 2018 co-organised with the Basque Country offered the fourth occasion to further build the community of the S3P - Industry.

The S3P – Industry grew and Bilbao provided place for discussion for 18 partnerships and various European Commission directorates on topics reflecting the needs of partnerships expressed in their progress report I/2018. Number of topics were offered based on partnership needs. 

The Steering Committee meeting was followed by a joint event between the thematic platforms on Agri-food, Energy and Industry providing opportunity to discover synergies across thematic platform's partnerships.

Basque Industry 4.0

The fourth Basque Industry 4.0 event was taking place on the 26th of November in the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao.

The Basque Industry 4.0 Conference was launched in 2014 and in 2018 was a multidisciplinary event where strategy, opinions, technology, experiences and workshops were combined and networking was promoted, making it suitable for companies in any sector.

Joint event between the thematic platform on Agri-food, Energy and Industrial Modernisation


The event was taking place on the 27th of November in the afternoon, following the Steering Committee event of the S3P-Industry. All participants of the S3P-Industry were kindly invited.

The idea behind the joint event was that cooperation between partnerships across the three platforms can further support the knowledge base of regional innovation systems, enhancing the potential for upgrading products, improving participating regions' position in global value chains, and leading to new opportunities and growth. New paths of development could be created through inter-partnership collaboration on business/research opportunities, policy tools, effectively leading to inter-platform joint initiatives of innovation.

The Joint event proposes an open and interactive discussion on the ways of exploring the future of the thematic approach to Smart Specialisation. It launched a discussion on the collaboration opportunities across the three thematic platforms. 

 

S3P-Agrifood Working Committee Semi-annual Meeting


This half-day event on the 28th November focused on the progress of the partnerships, issues and challenges faced and ways to overcome these. The ongoing Agri-Food partnerships were offered an opportunity to discuss their current progress, any specific pilots/ projects supported by the partnerships as well as the past/future activities of the Thematic Platform for Agri-Food. One representative of each S3P - Industry partnership was kindly invited to participate on the event. Event page can be found here.
