Highlights cooperation EU-Thailand
On-going projects
Collaboration with the National Innovation Agency of Thailand, - A formal Collaborative Research Agreement has been in place since 2020. This centres on cooperation in the fields of smart specialisation and innovation, centred on exchanges of knowledge and experience related to concepts and practical application to place based innovation and smart specialisation, particularly in the context of Sustainable development.
The JRC S3 platform collaborates with the National Innovation Agency of Thailand (NIA), a public organisation under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand, whose mission is to support and develop Thailand’s innovation system, to promote economic restructuring and competitive enhancement.

Support of the Smart Specialisation Platform
Aiming at facilitating close cooperation with EU regions, the Smart Specialisation platform supports technically and methodologically strategic initiatives leading to implement the smart specialisation concept in non-EU countries. An open call to non-EU regions and countries is available.
More concretely, the support of the S3 Platform to the implementation and adaptation of the S3 concept in Thailand has been linked to the following activities:
- Talks with the National Innovation Agency of Thailand
- Attendance of Smart Specialisation Platform experts to workshops and conferences
- Dissemination and communication activities in several channels
- Membership to the S3 Platform
- Newsletter information
Open call
OPEN CALL to Non-EU Countries & Regions: registration in the S3 Platform. Expressions of interest for becoming member of the S3 platform can be fulfilled here. This call targets public authorities in charge of innovation and competitiveness policies at national and sub-national level.
