Roundtable on Digitising European Industry Working Group 1
DEI Working Group 1 focuses on Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) as a means of supporting businesses, and notably SMEs and non-tech industry, in their digital transformation under the Digitising European Industry (DEI) initiative. It brings together stakeholders with interests in running and operating Digital Innovation Hubs as well as potential beneficiaries in industry. This is the first report from their activities providing advice on how to organise DIHs, their activities and networking.

Member States that are providing investments into ICT through ESIF funds are obliged to develop a specific Strategy Policy Framework for Digital Growth if the aim is to develop different ICT products and services; and to enhance the demand for ICT.

This report describes how the ICT monitoring tool works, how it was developed and makes an initial analysis of planned ESIF investments in ICT using the tool. It points to that ICTs not only constitute an important sector themselves, but are also an important enabler of other sectors. This is why, analysis of ESIF data on planned ICT investments show EUR 12.2 billion encoded in the dedicated TO, but when ICT categories in other TOs are included, this amount almost doubles, to EUR 21.4 billion.
Assessment of strategies for ICT investments using European Structural and Investment Funds: reflections from experts and practical examples

DG Connect and DG JRC have been supporting MSs and regions in fostering the ICT dimension of planned investments under ESIF. As part of this activity, assistance has been given to seven EU regions. This paper provides a systematic summary of the experts’ findings and discusses critical issues pointed out in the expert reports and at an expert workshop.
This guide is addressed to national, regional and local stakeholders interested in promoting regional innovation and competitiveness through the use of information and communication technology (ICT), with a special focus on small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).

The S3P has arranged three learning workshops for regional ICT strategies and policies, based on workshop presentations and discussions, this policy brief outlines the main lessons learnt in terms of policy processes, practices, and instruments. It concludes by providing a summary of general observations and outlining recommendations for enhancing policy learning in ICT.
