Workshop on Investment Vehicles and Financial Instruments supporting Technology Transfer and Innovation

The JRC organised a workshop that focused on financial instruments as support to innovation and tech transfer projects in the Western Balkans countries and, in general, in the Danube region. The event took place in Belgrade (Serbia). The objectives of the workshop were to identify existing financial instruments that support innovation and technology transfer activities in the region, explore where the evident gaps exist and explore ways to address currently unmet demand using synergistic solutions. The workshop also aimed to strengthen and cement an emerging community of practice on these issues that should help to maximise the impact of innovation on regional development.

Entrepreneurial Discovery Process Focus Group on ICT, North-West region of Romania

On 21 February 2017, the North-West region of Romania will organize, with JRC participation, an EDP Focus Group on ICT, which is one of the region's RIS3 priority fields, as well as a sector with recognised potential, nationally and abroad. The event gathers a broad range of local stakehoders, who will analyse current trends in the ICT sector, ways to accelerate the transition from outsourcing to proprietary products, and niche sectors for further development of the sector. The participants will also focus on opportunities for the development of new, innovative products and technology transfer, supported by ERDF funds.

First meeting of the working group on RIS3 monitoring in lagging regions

The first meeting of the JRC Lagging Regions Working Group on Monitoring will be held in Barcelona (at the EC Representation) on the 16th of February. During this meeting, representatives from the project's partner regions will examine their approaches to RIS3 monitoring with the support of independent experts. The outcomes of the event will provide the basis for some online learning material.

Smart Specialisation cooperation in Central Europe – Networking Workshop

The Directorate General for Regional and Urban policy (DG REGIO) of the European Commission has launched an initiative in mid-2016 that aims at contributing to the setting up of a type of long-term dialogue for an efficient and enhanced cooperation and exchange of knowledge between actors of the knowledge triangle in Central Europe, in the followiung Member States: Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany (Bavaria, Saxony), Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia. A key objective for this operational networking meeting is to identify and agree on the areas with the highest potential for cooperation in the field of Smart Specialisation among partners from the Central European Member States. The event should result in initialising several working parties to be led by leading organisations for the identified Technology Priority Areas (TPAs) or sub-areas.

The S3 Platform and region Lazio with the regional Innovation Agency Lazio Innova welcome you to the S3 thematic workshop "Smart specialisation and cultural heritage: an engine for innovation and growth". The workshop aims at identifying concrete steps for implementing smart specialisation with a focus on Cultural Heritage as part of the broader area of Cultural and Creative Industries. According to the S3 priorities mapped in the Eye@RIS3 tool, Cultural Heritage is a relevant domain, both regarding cultural heritage technologies, digitisation and imaging, and its cross-sectoral potential in relation to innovative approaches to tourism and sustainable construction, as examples. The event will provide opportunities for mutual learning based on the exchange of experiences from different actors, organisations and institutions addressing Cultural Heritage for territorial development.
