The town of Baiona near Vigo in Galicia was the location for an S3 Platform Peer Review Workshop. Located close to the Portuguese region of Norte, the workshop had a transborder theme.
In relation to the Baltic Sea States Subregional Cooperation (BSSSC) Second Annual Conference in Jūrmala (Latvia) from 15 to 17 October 2014, a workshop on Collaboration in Smart Specialisation was organised by PA Innovation of the EUSBSR and the S3 Platform.
The S3 Platform organised this workshop with the Regional Studies Association and the SmartSpec FP7 project on Implenting the Entrepreneurial Process of Discovery.
The S2E launching conference offered a first opportunity to identify key elements for building successful synergies and gave a useful insight into how synergies could be achieved in practice.
EDP requires not only the capacity of entrepreneurs to identify local strengths but also the ability of governments to collect and assess the information received in order to align policy measures to the selected activities.

DG CONNECT and the Smart Specialisation Platform are jointly developing measures to support Member States and regions in developing Digital Growth Strategies. As part of this work and in cooperation with Lodzkie Region and Lodz Univeristy of Technology an outreach event on ICT strategies and tools for regional growth was arranged in Lodz (PL).
Five countries presented their current work on RIS3: Bulgaria, Ireland, Romania, Poland and Slovakia. The rest of workshop participants acted as 'critical friends' and discussed the strategies of the countries under review. All five countries had a number of shared priorities and common questions in their RIS3 and discussed these in detail during the peer review sessions.
