Networking event ‘Excellence without Borders: R&D Cooperation Across the Innovation Divide’
The objective of this event is to present the JRC publication "Research and Technology Organisations and Smart Specialisation" which is currently under preparation by Dr. Katerina Ciampi Stancova from S3 Platform and Prof. David Charles from University of Lincoln.
This workshop was part of the 2015 Open Days programme and included participants from policy making, research and industry. Four S3P members will present their plans for specialising in Blue Growth: The Canary Islands (ES), Nordland (NO), Portugal and Ireland!
The thematic University-Business Forum took place in Vilnius and Kaunas, Lithuania. It brought together around 200 high-level representatives from higher education, business as well as national, regional and local authorities from Europe and beyond. There was no registration fee for the Forum.
The motto of the EXPO 2015:" Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life" is a global appeal to reflect upon current issues of nutrition, food production, management and distribution, as well as global and regional governance of food. Participating countries, organisations and institutions will share their experience, demonstrate and confront their approaches as well as discuss potential future scenarios and development. The European Union, a key player on international scale, shared results of its work done over the last 50 years.

At this event, practitioners from various regions and will provide an opportunity to exchange views and liaise with potential co-operation partners while at the same time developing a broader perspective on the opportunities and challenges provided by advanced manufacturing initiatives.
The S3 Platform together with the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy organised the Danube smart specialisation (S3) workshop “Gathering opportunities around RIS3 priorities” in Vienna, Austria. The workshop aimed at identifying concrete initiatives for transnational cooperation around some common smart specialisation priorities in the Danube region. The workshop provided the arena to explore collaboration opportunities in ICT, health, energy and sustainable innovations.
In the light of the approved Operational Programme I (Fostering a competitive and sustainable economy to meet our challenges) with pertinent action plan, the S3 Platform and DG REGIO discussed the state of play on issues identified during the past assessments.
