S3PEnergy platform presented results and perspectives in EUSEW16

The session called: Smart Specialisation in Energy, how regions are implementing their priorities? counted on the participation of more than 250 stakeholders and practitioners of energy-related S3 priorities. The event took place in Brussels (Charlemagne building, De Gasperi room) and was also emitted through livestreaming in English, French, Spanish and German languages.

As for the results, the joint work of DGs REGIO, ENER and JRC was highlighted. Tools such as ESIF Viewer and EYE@RIS3 as well as the registration form open to new stakeholders were also presented. Past and future events organised and co-organised by S3PEnergy were also shared with the audience. Finally, four experiences of implementation supported by interregional cooperation were presented: Vanguard Initiative (offshore renewables), Alinne Network (Spanish national network energy and innovation), Andalusia Region (leading sustainable construction group) and Puglia Region (Synergies of ESIF funds).

Concerning future activities of the S3PEnergy platform, the need of working towards more inter-regional cooperation around thematic energy-related priorities of Smart Specialisation was pointed out. To this respect, the platform is currently receiving manifestation of interest from Regional Public Authorities and other key stakeholders to take active part in these inter-regional thematic groups.
