Description

This info day raised awareness on Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) as drivers for industrial competitiveness in regions. It showed how regions can incorporate KETs into their Smart Specialisation strategies, and what is the way to promote interregional synergies between national/regional authorities, industry and research. The Info Day was organised by the European Commission in cooperation with the Committee of the Regions

 

Objectives of the day

  1. Raise awareness on Key Enabling Technologies (advanced materials, nanotechnology, micro- and nano-electronics, industrial biotechnology, photonics, and advanced manufacturing systems) as drivers for industrial competitiveness in regions. Encourage regions to take-up KETs that are relevant for their smart specialisation.
  2. Stimulate interaction between national/regional actors and H2020 industrial and research & innovation stakeholders in order to enhance synergies.
  3. Promote complementarities  between the regions (promote interregional cooperation)
     

Target audience

1. Regional and national stakeholders:

  • Regions and national authorities involved in Smart Specialisation strategies
  • Members of the Member States' Group on KETs
  • Regions targeting KETs as an investment priority
     

2. Research, innovation and industry stakeholders:

  • FP7 / H2020 stakeholders (RTOs, research, industry, NCPs, ETPs, EEN network…)
  • Sherpa members of the KETs High Level Group
  • cPPP and JTI Stakeholders (associations)
