Investment platforms as an instrument for coordinating and supporting interregional investment projects for industrial modernisation

  • 21 Feb 2018 to 21 Feb 2018

Description

EFSI investment platforms to support interregional projects

The European Commission is organising a second 'European Industry Day' during the 22-23 February. To accompany the event the Regional Council of Lapland in association with EURADA and the European Commission are organising the event 'EFSI investment platforms to support interregional projects' on 21st February between 9.00-12.00 o’clock at Rue du Commerce, 123  1000, Bruxelles.

The workshop will explore how the new instrument of Investment Platforms proposed under the Investment Plan for Europe can support interregional projects in different industrial sectors. It will help policy makers and industry stakeholders to know more about the different possibilities, challenges and modalities for setting up an investment platform to support interregional cooperation in the area of industrial modernisation.

EU regions are increasingly interested to cooperate on shared smart specialisation areas by coordinating policy actions and appropriate funds. However, financing interregional projects is rather a complex task requiring new financial schemes and tools. The new instrument of Investment Platforms opens new perspectives for supporting such coordinated investments in a strategic and efficient way.

Interventions from financial institutions, business organisations and the European Commission will share their proven experience in financing investment projects across the EU and discuss possible options in using Investment Platforms. It will help the participants, especially the partners involved in the Smart Specialisation Platform for industrial Modernisation, to understand the challenges involved and identify customised solutions for their specific investment needs.
