JRC-IPTS, together with the Romanian North-East Development Agency, organised a first EDP focus group on biotechnology in Iași, North-East Region of Romania, on the 6th of June 2016.

The working groups and the plenaries examined segments of the bio-technology industry in relation to four societal challenges:

  • Healthy aging (Bio nano-technologies and Medical and pharmaceutical biotechnology)
  • Food security sustainable agriculture and bio-economy (Agricultural biotechnology)
  • Reliable, clean and efficient energy (Industrial biotechnology)
  • Clean, safe water (Environment-oriented biotechnologies-Pollution-removing and waste recovery)
